I bought these Charcoal Grilled Sausages in China from a Japanese shop. So are they Chinese, Japanese or Western sausages? Well, it’s hybrid. Depends on how you evaluate it.
I took a bite. The texture is soft and springy. More like western sausages. The skin is edible but a bit think and chewy. The taste is more like Chinese sausages, with Chinese spices. It’s a little bit on the sweet side. The charcoal taste is not very prominent that it’s hard to tell whether it’s even there.
When I finished the whole sausage, I was thinking where this would have come from. Perhaps a Western father and Chinese mother? Or Chinese father and Western mother? Very difficult question.
