What do you do when you have some Indian green chutney and some Chinese soy bean pudding? Mix them, of course! Green chutney is a common Indian condiment made of mint, coriander, garlic, ginger and cumin. Chinese soy bean pudding is also known as douhua 豆花, soya bean pudding or tau foo fah.
- Put some soy bean pudding in a bowl.
- Put a generous spoonful of green chutney on top.
- Mix with spoon.
- Eat with a spoon.
I expected this to be a clash of two very distinct flavours from very different food cultures. And oh boy it did! The spiciness of the green chutney overwhelmed the soy bean pudding. Since it was mixed together with the pudding, it felt like drinking curry soup with sugar. It was utterly disgusting! Yuck!
