Pandan rice in this context is not a different species of rice. It is rice infused with pandan aroma. Normally, the pandan aroma is achieved by adding pandan leaves when cooking the rice. So it’ll be interesting to see if pre-infused rice is as good.
When opening the pack, I can see the rice. But there’s hardly any smell of pandan. Perhaps it will surface when it’s cooked.
Which is what I did. But again, there’s no hint of pandan.
So I concluded that I should review this as normal rice, not pandan rice. The texture of the rice is a bit like basmati rice, but more rough and course. It doesn’t have the fluffiness of basmati rice. This is the rice that is typically used in Malaysia or Indonesia and goes well with the local curry dishes, like rendang.
Product of Indonesia. Bought in Jakarta.
